While recording video (or using Live View, or setting up for video) if you tap the shutter button, the metering display at the bottom of the screen will be active for the time specified in the menu. It doesn't seem to have any bearing on the meter or metering functions when using the viewfinder. Thanks a lot.

The EOS1200D has built in software to enable an eye-fi card useage, BUT the camera is not recognising the wi-fi in the card and so these setting are not accessible in the camera menu.
